Family Therapy
Family therapy involves the entire family, including children, working with a therapist to address issues that affect the family as a whole. Our therapists help to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and support the emotional needs of the children by involving them in the process. Types of Family Therapy
Transgenerational therapy is a therapeutic approach that explores how patterns, behaviors, and emotional issues are passed down through generations within a family. It aims to identify and address unresolved conflicts and trauma that affect current family members by understanding the influence of previous generations. The therapy helps individuals break negative cycles and create healthier relationships by examining their family history and dynamics.
Supportive Family Therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on providing emotional support and strengthening the family unit during times of stress or crisis. The therapist works with the family to enhance communication, build coping skills, and foster a sense of unity and understanding. This therapy emphasizes creating a nurturing environment where family members can openly express their concerns and support one another.
Structural Family Therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on reorganizing the family structure to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and enhance relationships. The therapist works with the family to identify and adjust patterns of interaction that may be contributing to dysfunction, helping to establish clearer boundaries and roles. This approach aims to create a healthier and more supportive family dynamic by altering the underlying structure of the family system.
Narrative therapy is a therapeutic approach that centers on the stories people tell about their lives, helping them to reframe and reshape these narratives in a more empowering way. The therapist collaborates with clients to identify and challenge negative or limiting stories, allowing them to develop alternative, more positive narratives that reflect their strengths and values. This approach emphasizes the client’s role as the author of their own life, encouraging personal growth and change through the power of storytelling.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It helps individuals understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and actions, and teaches them strategies to manage and alter unhelpful thinking and behaviors. CBT is widely used to treat various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and stress, by promoting healthier and more adaptive ways of thinking and coping.
SPACE Treatment Therapy
SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) treatment is a parent-based therapy designed to help children with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders by changing parental responses to the child’s anxiety. Instead of directly working with the child, therapists guide parents on how to reduce accommodations they make for the child’s anxiety, thereby promoting independence and resilience. This approach empowers parents to support their child’s emotional growth without reinforcing anxious behaviors.
